An All-State softball player at Jonathan Law High School for three seasons (1985-87), Elaine Amundsen was named the Connecticut softball player of the year in 1987. As a pitcher, she struck out a program best 17 batters and pitched a pair of no-hitters as a senior. Inducted into the Connecticut Softball Hall of Fame in 2000, Amundsen played for the Raybestos Brakettes softball team in 1985, 1986 and 1987 helping the Stratford-based juggernaut to two world championships. She received a softball athletic scholarship to University of South Carolina and played at the University of New Haven. Elaine played on the Boston Blitz of the New England Women’s Baseball League in 1999. Amundsen was a member of the Women's USA baseball team that defeated Japan at the first Women's World Series in Toronto in 2001. Elaine has coached softball and basketball at the high school level and is a former volleyball official.
