2008 Jonathan Law H.S. State Champion Baseball Team

Biography

The Jonathan Law High School baseball team captured the state championship under head coach Dennis Sweeney in 2008. That season, the CIAC Class L baseball tournament bracket featured one of the most remarkable underdog runs in Connecticut high school sports history. Entering as the No. 20 seed after a modest 9-11 regular season, the Jonathan Law Lawmen went 5-0 in the tournament to capture the state title. Law secured its first ever crown with a 7-1 win over Fairfield Ludlowe. The Lawmen topped No. 13 Darien 3-1 in the first round. Victories over Darien (2-0), Platt Tech (22-1) and Maloney High of Meridian (6-5) put Law into the semifinals. Law shocked defending champion Guilford, the No. 1 seed, with a 6-3 triumph.
